Google Play Order Tracking

Nexus 4 Google Play availability

Back in November and December 2012, there were thousands of people who went onlilne and managed to grab a Nexus 4 from the Google Play store before stocks ran out. They were excited to be given varying shipping estimate of between 3-5 working days,up to 7-8 weeks. As time passed without a whisper from Google, many customer’s estimates came and went. You can read more about the situation that led to this site being created on our about page.

Promises were made by Google that both service and communication would improve. This topic aims to track the sales of the device and shipping estimates made. It will also give us an insight into the demand for the device that would otherwise depend on Google or LG sharing publicly.

As always, we are independent from the topic’s subject, our only connection is a line of communication with a Google employee.

You will need to check your confirmation email for details, alternatively you can log in to Google Wallet to find out.

Handset Popularity (%)

Tracking Emails Received

The following statistics show how many people who have placed their orders up to now, (currently within the first week or so), have either received their tracking emails, or the actual device. It’s important to note that even though the current numbers for delivery seem small, there is still plenty of time before their initial 1-2 week shipping estimated are up.

Devices Delivered

At present, roughly half of those who have received their tracking emails have also received their device, which is expected. So far nobody has received their device without receiving a tracking email. This is an improvement from the last batches where there were small numbers who received the device with no information on it’s delivery. Well done Google, keep it up!

More soon!

How does the data chart work ? The 25 50 75 does this = devices ordered ? I couldn’t work out each notch on the graph as it doesn’t work in 10 20 30 nor 5 10 15. Also what do the top notches represent ?

I’ve changed the chart for model popularity to hopefully make it a bit clearer (with percentages correctly labelled.)

    Hey folks.

I know things haven’t been updated for a few days – I’ve had a lot of things to be getting on with away from this.

The good news is that it’s the weekend, and I’ll be working as much as I can on it, so those updates I’ve been promising will be here soon, just give me a little time.

    Thanks
    Andy

    Form Update:

Realised there was a missing field “original shipping estimate”, now added.

If anybody needs to update their data, simply fill in the section that has changed, and we’ll update the records accordingly.

    Thanks
    Andy

I’d be interested to see a scatter of how long it’s taken for shipping/tracking information to be sent against date ordered.

This and more… let’s see some trends!

    Hi Connor,

Thanks for the suggestion, and we’re right there with you on this one! It was one of the main pieces of data that we wanted to examine whilst developing the site to begin with.

We had hoped to have had this up by now, but we’ve all had other things to take care of recently. I’d love to give you a definite time it’ll be up, but I just can’t say at the moment. Hope you understand.

Check back soon and thanks for the input!
